Chúng ta thường hài lòng khi trẻ con khoanh tay nói xin lỗi, và kiêu căng hả hê khi sếp phải nhún nhường có lời xin lỗi. Chúng ta cũng thường kiếm tìm những cách khác nhau để nói lời xin lỗi người khác, hoặc kiếm tìm những lý do để tránh không phải xin lỗi ai đó.
Nhiều khi xin lỗi chỉ là một câu nói theo phép lịch sự.
